Maine Identity Theft

In Maine, identity theft (referred to in the statutes as “Misuse of Identification”) occurs when a person knowingly or intentionally uses another individual’s personal identifying documents or information without authorization in order to obtain confidential information, property or services.   The law itself is codified in Maine Statute § 17-A §905-A.
